Of all the models you’ve shot — and you’ve got quite nice collection I might add!! — do any of them stand out as having that extra "it" factor when it comes to posing?

Hey your trying to get me in trouble here! Of course I have models that you turn to when you know you have a hard job or that you need a particular look and feel from. Diana Kauffman is one of those, when I need someone to play a character she is the girl, she [...]

Are you frustrated with your stale lighting? Are you feeling like you are no longer creative? Do you get totally tongue tied when a beautiful Model steps in front of your camera? And oh my god, it’s even worse when she’s nude!

How do you keep a level of professionalism while shooting such gorgeous models? Is there some kind of anti-Viagra that one can take to keep from being sexually aroused?

June 19th, 2010 – 4:35 pm

LoL I don’t know of an anti viagra, except that if you approach your work with a serious attitude and professionalism things seem to take care of itself. Plus I have so much on my mind with lighting, posing, clothes, makeup and everything that getting aroused is the last thing on my mind. Ask me [...]

You put a strong emphasis on composition. Any good resources about this subject or is it all natural for you?

June 19th, 2010 – 4:32 pm

I guess some of it is natural but most of mine is basic rules of portraiture and photography. I would suggest going back to the older basic books and look at what the classic masters used both in photography and painting. You have given me an idea perhaps I’ll do a DVD on the subject, [...]

Is there any particular reason you shoot Canon over Nikon? Just curious. Seems like a lot of people are being tempted into switching to Nikon’s latest full-frame.

June 18th, 2010 – 7:56 pm

I switched to canon at the beginning of the digital era and have seen no reason to go back. I like the system. Ask me anything

February 24th, 2010 – 8:57 am

Q: How many lights are used in a typical shoot? Strobist or something else? A: I use as many lights as I feel adds something to the image and still looks natural. In a lot of my images it is only one light and the ambient light. I use dyna lite strobes, both indoors and [...]

San Francisco, meet up, models, etc.

Wow, it’s February already……what happened to January and all those good intentions of a newsletter every month? Hmmmm, I think it was Costa Rica, coffee, beach, jungle, waterfalls, beautiful models, and lots of shooting…followed closely by LA and more shooting. Lots of video production. Editing, editing and more editing. Oh yea, did I mention the [...]
